Former Westcliff beat bobby who became a racehorse owner dies



A FORMER beat bobby on Scunthorpe's Westcliff Estate, who became a racehorse owner and a champion dog breeder, has died at the age of 76 years.
Father-of-two Ralph Taylor died in the Holly Tree Lodge nursing home at Scotton on October 7, after a long illness.
Mr Taylor served in the police force in Scunthorpe and Barton-upon-Humber for 30 years until he retired as an inspector in 1995
He served in the CID, the drug squad and crime prevention before becoming a teacher at the police training colleges in Dishforth and Durham.
