Former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan arrives at Humberside Airport
 

Former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan touched down at Humberside Airport this afternoon (August 31).
The respected Ghanaian diplomat arrived at the airport ahead of a lecture he is giving in Hull on Saturday as part of the City of Culture celebrations.
Mr Annan, who held the position of UN secretary general for nine years between 1997 and 2006, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001.
He was greeted to the area by ex-Deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott.
