Former police officer caught with ‘severe’ child abuse images

A former police officer who specialised in child protection was caught downloading the most serious child abuse images himself.
Robert Branney, 69, developed an addiction to the sickening images after he left the Devon and Cornwall force in 2001.
He worked as a police officer for 28 years and four of those years were spent protecting children from abuse.
But he starting accessing the harmful images himself.
Police caught him after he went on internet chatrooms with other peadophiles.
When they knocked on the door to arrest him, he said: ‘I know why you’re here – child pornography.’
