Former Newcastle police station on Market Street will be turned into more student flats
 

A former city centre police station will be turned into student flats after Newcastle City Council awarded planning permission.
Northumbria Police’s former headquarters in Market Street will be torn down and replaced with seven storeys of student digs.
The redevelopment consists of 225 student bed spaces, 48 of which will be self-contained studios. Work is expected to be completed in 2018.
Newcastle City Council had recommended the plans for approval and they have now been rubber-stamped.
