Forget Facebook, Rhinos use a social network of smells spread in their DUNG



Researchers have discovered that white rhinos can communicate key information to each other using poop. 
Their dung contains chemicals that can inform other white rhinos about their age, sex, territory and even whether a female is in heat.
The researchers collected dung samples from white rhinos in South Africa's Hluhluew-Imfolozi Park and found that the rhinos use communal defecation sites so that all rhinos in their social group can read the signals.
