Fog at Newcastle Airport sees planes cancelled and passengers left stranded
 

Passengers were left stranded as planes were cancelled or diverted when fog covered Newcastle on Monday morning.
Two planes, one from Dublin and the other from Southampton, were forced to divert away from Newcastle Airport after repeated attempts to land.
The Aer Lingus flight from Dublin attempted two landings at Newcastle before changing course to Edinburgh.
Flybe’s plane from Southampton also had to divert to Edinburgh shortly before 9am as low-lying fog reduced visibility.
