First baby is born with three parents using ‘revolutionary’ new DNA technique



A five-month-old baby is the first to be born using a ‘revolutionary’ DNA technique where the child has ‘three parents’, according to a report in New Scientist.
Abrahim Hussain’s Jordanian parents were treated by a medical team based in Mexico – and the child incorporates DNA from three parents.
The technique allows parents with rare genetic disorders to have children – and a similar technique has been legally approved in the UK.
The DNA of a ‘second mother’ is used to replace faulty mitochondrial DNA in a woman’s eggs that would mean she did not pass on genetic disorders.
