First African supermarket opens in Scunthorpe thanks to funding from UK Steel Enterprise



THE first African and Afro-Caribbean supermarket has opened in Scunthorpe with the help of funding from UK Steel Enterprise's (UKSE) Kickstart Fund.
African-born Titalyo Corser moved to Scunthorpe in 2008 and recognised the lack of options in the local area for those wanting to buy African and Afro-Caribbean goods, with many people having to travel as far as Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.
Titalyo applied for the UKSE Kickstart Fund, an initiative launched earlier this year and was granted £1000 to assist with the establishment of her business, MamaRoxSam's.
