Firefighters called to McDonalds carbon dioxide leak alert
 

Firefighters were called to McDonalds in Belle Valle after a carbon dioxide leak this morning.
Two fire engines attended the incident at the restaurant on Childwall Valley Road at just after 8am.
It involved a broken valve on an external storage cylinder which was leaking carbon dioxide.
Firefighters isolated the cylinder and handed the incident over to the cylinder supply company.
Carbon dioxide can be used as a refrigerant and coolant and is also used in soda fountain machines to carbonate soft drinks.
