Fire service cut 'beyond the bone' with more savings to come across Tyne and Wear, warns union
 

A fire service is being “cut beyond the bone” as two more fire engines are taken out of action, the FBU has warned.
The warning comes as fire bosses met to discuss redundancy packages for a further 42 job cuts at Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service on Monday, which is facing another £1.8m in budget cuts.
Fire Brigade Union brigade secretary, Russ King, said: “We’re incredibly thin on the ground. What is worrying on top of these job losses is that the fire authority has another £1.8m to save.
