Fernando Alonso set to make Le Mans 24-Hour debut and compete in WEC series after McLaren grant permission

Fernando Alonso has been granted permission by McLaren to take part in this year’s Le Mans 24-Hour race. He will also compete in other World Endurance Championship (WEC) rounds.
However, the double world champion will not miss Formula One races, unlike last year when he skipped the Monaco Grand Prix to race in the Indianapolis 500.
This time, he will instead forego the Japanese WEC race on October 21 to fulfil his ‘day job’ in the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
