Fears for teachers' jobs after Newcastle school runs up £750,000 deficit
 

Teachers could lose their jobs after a Newcastle school ran up a deficit of £750,000.
The finances of Walker Technology College , a secondary school on Waverdale Avenue in the Walker area of the city , have been plunged into the red.
In a leaked letter seen by us, it was revealed the school went from a “small deficit” at Easter 2016 to a “massive” one thought to be around three quarters of a million pounds.
The school, rated as ‘good’ in its last Ofsted inspection, has more than 1,000 pupils as well as a sixth form, plus 159 staff.
