An ex-police chief today denied falsifying his pocket notebook and lying in court after a roadside bust-up with another motorist.
Former chief superintendent Michael Cloherty, 51, tackled electrician Jack Beecham after his car door bumped against the officer’s own vehicle as he got out of his vehicle.
The officer, then a police chief on the Wirral division of Merseyside Police , claimed Mr Beecham, 64, refused to give his details and assaulted him as he arrested the suspect during the incident in Birkenhead, in May 2010.
