Jewish families in the North East are celebrating the arrival of the New Year.
Rosh Hashanah is a two-day festival that welcomes the seventh month of the Jewish calendar, Tishri.
The festival is a time for coming together with families but is often used as a time to ask for forgiveness and pray.
Rosh Hashanah leads into the most holy day of the year, Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement.
