Europe's biggest military powers vow to work together DESPITE opposition to EU army
 

German and French plans for stronger co-operation between EU states for defence have received a new boost after two new states announced their interest in signing up to the scheme.
For the first time, Italy and Spain expressed their support for the proposals put forwards by German Federal Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen and her French colleague Jean-Yves Le Drian.
In a joint letter to EU Ombudsman Federica Mogherini, the member states called for "a stronger, more realistic and credible European defence policy".
