A restaurant boss pocketed thousands of pounds in state handouts by lying that he was just a delivery driver and failing to declare his wife owned a house which was being rented out.
Benefit cheat Ziyad Okasha received more than £26,000 he wasn’t entitled to by hiding his true circumstances.
A court heard the dad-of-three claimed housing benefit and council tax benefit on the basis he was a fast food delivery driver.
In fact he was the sole director and shareholder of a restaurant on the West Road, in Newcastle, from which he occasionally delivered food.
