Elderly WI group almost hit by train at Barlaston level crossing after being struck by barrier



A GROUP of WI members were moments away from being hit by a train after a level crossing barrier reportedly malfunctioned.
They were walking across the tracks at Barlaston when one of the barriers came down and hit three of them – leaving a 91-year-old woman lying unconscious on the ground.
They say they only just managed to get off the tracks before a train came speeding through.
Now Network Rail has launched an investigation into the incident.
