Elderly pair with life-threatening injuries air-lifted to hospital following three-vehicle pile-up



A woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a three-vehicle crash.
The crash happened on the Rearsby bypass, the A607, at about 3.30pm on Sunday.
It involved two cars and double decker bus.
Firefighters had to cut the elderly woman free from a Ford B Max, in which she is believed to have been a front seat passenger.
Leicestershire Police described her injuries as life-threatening.
An air ambulance spokesperson said the woman had suffered serious injuries to her chest, torso and legs.
