Education Minister visits North East as region leads careers education pilot
 

Education minister Robert Halfon saw how the North East is leading the way in preparing young people for the world of work during a whistle-stop tour of the region.
The new minister for apprenticships and skills visited Churchill Community College in North Tyneside - one of 16 schools and colleges in the North East LEP area currently piloting the Gatsby Good Career Guidance Benchmarks.
The North East LEP region is the first in the country to test the eight clearly defined benchmarks that improve students’ transition from school to work or further study.
