Durham County Cricket's punishment 'does not fit the crime' says North East MP
 

A leading North East MP has called for an urgent meeting with the head of the England Cricket Board to discuss the punishment meted out on Durham which he said “does not fit the crime”.
Labour’s Shadow Cabinet member Dave Anderson said it will prove not only a blow to cricket but also to the prestige of the region which uses sport to prove its worth.
“The weight of this punishment will only increase the chasm of inequality between our region and others,” said the Blaydon MP.
