Durham County Council expected to approve rescue package which will save Durham CCC
 

Durham County Council are set to agree a rescue package tomorrow which will secure First-Class and international cricket in the North East.
Earlier this month English cricket’s governing body, the England and Wales Cricket Board, agreed a £3.8m rescue package.
Despite attaching a series of harsh conditions – most notably relegation from County Championship Division One and a 48-point deduction for next season – the council have been told “the club is effectively insolvent and not viable in its current state”. In September their accounts revealed debts to be £7.5m.
