Drivers warned to expect peak time delays at Norham Road Bridge in North Shields

Drivers are being warned to expect rush-hour congestion after work to build a new bridge hit delays.
Contractors are on site building the new Norham Road Bridge, that runs over the A1058 Coast Road, in North Shields.
On Thursday, work was taking place to pour concrete over newly-installed beams on the crossing.
During this time, the Coast Road underneath was closed and drivers were being diverted ‘up and over’ the slip roads.
The job was due to be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm, however North Tyneside Council has said the work is now likely to run into peak time.
