Drivers caught by Newcastle bus lane camera could be due a refund - because of 'inadequate' signs
 

Thousands of motorists caught by a city centre bus lane camera could have their fines overturned - because signs were not lit up.
In a landmark legal decision, the Traffic Penalty Tribunal has ruled that the signage warning motorists of a bus lane on John Dobson Street was “inadequate” - and has ordered Newcastle City Council to cancel any penalty charge notices.
It means that drivers caught in the hours of darkness between February 23 and April 22 could claw back cash.
Council bosses say this amounts to 5,100 drivers and could cost the authority £117,500 in refunds.
