Driver who ignored Cleethorpes Carnival road closures is fined £750

A DRIVER deliberately ignored road closure measures put in place for Cleethorpes Carnival and drove on the wrong side of the road, a court heard.
Christopher Lawrence, 34, of St Augustine's Avenue, Grimsby, denied dangerous driving on July 18 last year.
He was cleared by a jury after a trial but was convicted of the lesser offence of careless driving.
Georgina Goring, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that a key road in Cleethorpes was closed at the time of the incident because the carnival was taking place.
