Driver Nadeem Akhtar jailed for 18 years for attempted murder after mowing down victim with car
 

A 37-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years after mounting a pavement in his car and deliberately knocking over his victim.
Mohammed Aziz remains in a coma more than a year after he was mowed down by Nadeem Akhtar as he walked home from the shops in Burton.
Today, at Stafford Crown Court, Akhtar, of Shobnall Street, Burton, was told he will be behind bars for 18 years after being found guilty of attempted murder back in June.
