Dozens of prisoners 'accidentally' released from North East prisons, new figures show
 

A worrying 24 prisoners have accidentally been released from North East prisons over the last decade, and one prison makes up nearly half of all incorrect releases.
HMP Durham has wrongly released 11 criminals over the past 10 years according to new figures from the Ministry of Justice.
The data – which looks at all prisons in England and Wales’ – revealed HMP Durham has released at least one inmate in error every year since the year 2007/8, while 2006/7 was the only time during the last decade when no prisoners were released in error.
