Tuning into the late news each evening to see if the White House has started a nuclear war is not the best way to get through the dog days of August.
In the last 72 hours, airwaves have echoed with the high-powered insults being exchanged between Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
In response to missile tests by the rogue communist state, Trump has promised “fire and fury like the world has never seen”.
The words carried an eerie echo of president Truman’s threat to Japan in the days after dropping nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which brought World War II to an end.
