Desperate Angela Merkel optimistic of forming coalition after WEEKS without government
 

More than three months after a general election, Germany is still without a new government.
The five-day talks will include Mrs Merkel's Christian Democrats, its sister party the Christian Social Union, and the Social Democrats.
The negotiations are her best bet for forming a stable government since her party lost ground in September’s election.
A renewed grand coalition of Germany’s biggest parties would save the Chancellor from having to lead with a minority government - a feat which has never been attempted in the history of the Bundestag.
