Derby MP says there need to be a debate about rape accused anonymity

A Derby MP has said the issue of giving men accused of rape anonymity until they are convicted is one that needs wider debate.
Labour's Chris Williamson, who represents Derby North, said he could see merit in both sides of the argument. These are naming those charged with serious sexual offences before they go to court or keeping their names out of the public eye.
He was reacting to the news last week that a 29-year-old Denby man, cleared of raping a woman in Derby, has called for greater anonymity in the wake of his not guilty verdict.
