Derby Conservatives storm to to victory in Allestree by-election
 

The Derby Conservative group has won a by-election in Allestree.
It had to be held yesterday after former Tory councillor Richard Smalley was jailed for lying about where he lived.
Ged Potter won convincingly with 2006 votes. The Liberal Democrat candidate Deena Smith was second with 1053 votes, Labour's Oleg Sotnicenko was third with 409 votes and the Green Party's Marten Kats was fourth with 115 votes.
UKIP candidate Gaurav Pandey came last with 91 votes. The turnout was just 32.8%.
