Demand for black clothes in Thailand to mourn the death of the country’s King has caused a rush in Tesco’s South Asian outlets.
Thais are crowding shopping malls and department stores to stock up on black clothes as they begin a year of mourning for the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Tesco Lotus, which stocks Tesco products and is part-owned by the British retailer, is among the stores that have seen a boost in sales from Thai shoppers.
It has brought in up to five times more stock than normal and introduced a Sharing Ribbon project to hand out black ribbons to customers.
