Death of 'weak and emaciated' dog found dumped by the roadside

RSPCA inspectors are investigating the death of five-month-old female lurcher which was found dumped and emaciated near houses.
A woman found the dog in the hamlet of Haugh, near Alford, at around 9.30pm on Sunday and knocked on a door at Gate House Cottages to say she had found the dog on the roadside.
The homeowner was able to take the lurcher in until the morning when RSPCA animal collection officer Paula Jones collected it and took the dog straight to a vet.
The poor lurcher had been given water but was unable to keep any food down at all.
