Death of last Odeon Cinema organist, who once rose NAKED from the pits



Britain's last full-time cinema organist – the man who entertained thousands of Brummies – has died.
Steve Tovey, who provided the music at Birmingham’s Odeon Cinema for 25 years, passed away on Monday at the age of 69.
The musician, who played his final note at the Odeon in 1988, will be remembered as a larger-than-life character.
During a screening of The Life of Brian, Steve stunned the audience by playing while naked, just like the famous Monty Python organist.
But he was also an exceptionally talented musician and a keen historian of the instrument.
