Date set for the re-opening of Edge Lane after sinkhole closed carriageway



A date has been set for the full re-opening of Edge Lane.
The dual carriageway has been closed at the junction of Beech Street since June 29 - after a sinkhole measuring 3m deep and 6m wide formed .
United Utilities has been working to repair the hole, described as a “major carriageway collapse” and caused by the blockage of a seven metre deep brick sewer.
Workers hoped for the main commuter route to be re-opened by early August .
And today it has been confirmed that the date the road will re-open is August 11.
