Darren Clarke's decision to leave out Danny Willett threatens to blow up in his face
 

The European captain chose to leave Willett on the sidelines when the action began in Minnesota this morning.
Willett had to be content with being a cheerleader instead in the wake of his brother Pete Willett's verbal attack on American fans.
Clarke was worried about a possible backlash and instead sent out rookie Thomas Pieters with Lee Westwood in the final match.
But the opening blows were all landed by Davis Love's men, desperate to stop the rot of three successive defeats in golf's biggest battle.
