David Bintley left me gasping last week. The Birmingham Royal Ballet stopped off in Islington and showed us his latest full length work dedicated to the current Shakespeare celebrations.
Honestly, could any story conceived by man be more convoluted than this gallop through Royalty, fairies, shipwrecks, attempted assassination, not to mention true love?
Not only that but The Tempest, according to experts down the centuries, is one of The Bard’s most literate and precisely written works, a virtuoso exercise making sense of a dizzying array of characters both under the sea and above.
