D-day looms for two popular libraries that face the axe as council tries to save £130k
 

Two popular Stockton libraries could be axed at a cabinet meeting next week.
Stockton Council’s highest elected officials will meet to discuss the controversial move that may result in the closure of both Fairfield and Egglescliffe libraries.
The decision comes as the council faces up to a government funding reduction of £73m a year by 2019/20.
A cabinet report claims the recommendation is in line with the council’s library strategy, which was agreed by cabinet in 2011.
