Cumbrian coast railway line reopens after sinkhole repairs



The stretch of line on the Cumbrian coast was closed on Friday after a sinkhole appeared following Storm Eleanor.
Network Rail engineers have now repaired the stretch of track between Whitehaven and Workington.
The closure had seen a number of delays as trains on the route were limited to one line while repairs were carried out.
Phil James, head of operations for Network Rail, said: "We understand the importance of this line to the regional economy and did all we could to fix the issue and reopen the railway as quickly and safely as possible."
