Crooks putting lives at risk by targeting electricity substations to steal metal
 

Dangerous metal thefts from electricity substations in Merseyside and Cheshire rose by a staggering 600% this summer.
The spate of incidents resulted in ScottishPower Energy offering a reward of £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.
Over 250 different thefts have occurred in Merseyside and Cheshire this year, with 68 recorded in August alone – compared with one single incident recorded in August 2015.
Substations in residential areas in north and south Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, Widnes, Birkenhead and Ellesmere Port have been targeted.
