Credits to roll on Newcastle's old Odeon as owners announce demolition plan
 

It has stood as a Newcastle landmark for decades, but now the former Odeon cinema building could soon be consigned to rubble.
The cinema, which opened in the city 85 years ago, is to be pulled to the ground to kick-start an ambitious project to regenerate Pilgrim Street.
The former Odeon site - empty since 2002 - is central to plans to transform the area between Northumberland Street and Market Street into a retail zone, boosting Newcastle’s appeal as a go-to shopping destination.
