Credit and debit cards charges will be banned THIS WEEKEND



"Rip-off" surcharges levied by companies on customers who pay with debit or credit cards are to end from January 13, the Government has announced.
The Plymouth Herald reports this will apply to both in store and online payments and includes American Express and other payment methods such as PayPal or Apple Pay.
This is what you need to know:
When does it come into effect? The new law will come in on Saturday, January 13 . It means that people will no longer be penalised for making payments by Visa or Mastercard, online and in store.
