Coventry City digest: How Steve Mokone made Sky Blues history 60 years ago today
 

On this day in 1956, South African-born Steve Mokone, became the first ever black player to pull on a City shirt.
Making his debut in the number seven shirt, Mokone featured in City's 2-1 home defeat to Millwall.
The winger made three more appearances for Coventry City, scoring a solitary goal during that time, before moving to Holland in 1958.
Mokone picked up the nickname 'Kalamazoo' while at Coventry City, but he also enjoyed spells as a player with European giants Barcelona and Marseille.
