Councils which said no to devolution 'must take a long, hard look at themselves'
 

Councils which refused to sign up to a Combined Authority and elected mayor should “take a long hard look at themselves”, MP Guy Opperman has claimed.
The Conservative MP for Hexham said councils which wanted to tackle problems like unemployment had worked with the Government to agree devolution deals.
And in a dig at North East councils which refused to agree a deal, he suggested they “don’t want to take responsibility for their areas”.
