Councillor with a 'passion' for helping veterans up for Chronicle award
 

A councillor who helps veterans find homes and jobs has been nominated for a Chronicle Champions award.
Coun Ed Malcolm has chaired the South Tyneside Armed Forces Forum for five years and in that time has vastly improved the support soldiers and veterans get in the borough.
Thanks to his hard work, the council has been given a bronze award in the Government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, awarding the local authority’s progress in employing Army reservists and veterans.
