Council funeral service plans are to go ahead



North East Lincolnshire Council is moving ahead with its plans to set up a low-cost funeral service.
The funeral service will be set up to help tackle the issue of funeral poverty - when families put themselves under undue financial strain in order to provide their loved ones with one last farewell.
However a number of local funeral services have come out against the plan, believing that it could cost jobs within the industry as the council will have the ability to undercut them on price, as they already own Grimsby Crematorium and cemeteries.
