Controversial abattoir set to be demolished and site turned into housing after years of protests

A abattoir in Boosbeck could be demolished with the site being turned into housing.
The £3m Banaras Halal Meats (BHM) slaughterhouse first opened in 2013 and has proved controversial ever since, with furious villagers launching legal battles and making constant appeals for councillors to close the facility.
Redcar and Cleveland Council has now made an agreement with a private developer which could lead to a long-term solution.
