Conservative conference: Regional council 'can buy M6 Toll' if it can find the money
 

West Midlands councils could BUY the M6 Toll - if they can raise the money, Transport Secretary Chris Grayling says.
The West Midlands Combined Authority, a new regional council, is pushing for charges to be dropped from the toll road, which runs from north of Birmingham to Staffordshire.
And in February it wrote to the Government calling for talks on taking over the road, which has been put up for sale by owners Midlands Expressway Ltd.
It suggested a partnership between the Combined Authority, the government, businesses and pension funds.
