The featherweight champion of the world, 19-3, was humbled by the Ultimate Fighter season five winner at UFC 196.
'The Notorious' suffered a stunning second-round submission loss to Diaz, who was a late replacement for lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.
McGregor's defeat to Diaz, which was his first inside the Octagon, forced the Irishman to make several changes to his training regime.
