Co-op set to cease trading on Scunthorpe's Westcliff estate



AFTER more than 20 years, the Co-op looks set to cease trading on Scunthorpe's Westcliff Estate after losing a bidding war to rivals Tesco.
The present store, post office and pharmacy, run in the shopping precinct by the Lincolnshire Co-op, will be demolished and replaced on a new site by OneStop, a subsidiary of Tesco.
The changeover is part of a £9 million regeneration scheme for Westcliff put together by Ongo Homes and North Lincolnshire Council.
The decision, however, has put 23 full-time and part-time jobs at the Co-op at risk.
