City train taken out of service after smashing into shopping trolley left on the line
 

A busy passenger train smashed into a shopping trolley deliberately left on the line between Edgehill and Liverpool Lime Street stations.
British Transport Police said nobody was injured, but the incident caused damage the train, forcing it to be taken out of service for repairs.
The smash happened just before 8pm on September 6 in the Chatsworth Drive and Overton Street area, as the train pulled out of Edgehill station.
Police have today issued an appeal for help in their investigations.
